Spark competes at a B/C level, however individual teams may choose to play higher or lower depending on the level of the team in that year.

Player Fees change annually, but for 2026/2027 are $600. Some teams may add optional fundraising at the coach discretion.

• 2-3 complete uniforms

• Helmet (new players)

• 5-7 tournaments

• League games

• Umpire fees

• Game balls

• Use of indoor and outdoor practice facilities throughout the year

• Travel, lodging, or meals for tournaments and games

• Personal equipment (bat, glove, helmet, etc.)
  

Players are also responsible for providing their own:

• Face mask (optional at older levels)

• Cleats

• Glove

• Bat

• Batting gloves (optional)

Uniform requirements vary slighty by team but typically include:

• Two jerseys (purchased through the Nitro store in January)

• 1-2 pairs of pants

• 1-3 pairs of socks

• 1-2 belts
  

Players are also responsible for providing their own:

• Batting helmet

• Face mask

• Cleats

• Glove

• Bat

• Batting gloves (optional)

West Bend Spark encourages athletes to participate in other sports and school

activities.

While year-round practice opportunities are available, they are not required.

Once a player commits to being a Spark athlete, it is a year-long commitment (August - July).

Sample year:

• Fall/winter: 1-2 practices per week

• Possibly 1-2 tournaments

• January-March: Two practices weekly

• In-season (April 1 or after high school season): Weekend tournaments; weekday practices and/or games
  

During softball season (April-July) season, Spark should be your athlete’s primary

sports commitment.

Tournaments typically run Friday through Sunday, with possible daytime games on

Friday.

• Most offer 3-5 game guarantees

• Bracket advancement means more games if your team wins

Of course! Many players are multi-sport athletes.  School, religion and family come first for athletes – but we do ask that Spark also be in the mix.

Please communicate schedule conflicts early with your coach.

Teams are formed based on age group and skill level as observed during tryouts.  Final decisions are made by the coaches and evaluators.

All Spark coaches go through an application process and are reviewed based on

experience, coaching philosophy, and background checks.

Yes, West Bend Spark is a volunteer run organization. All coaches and assistant

coaches are volunteers. Families are required to volunteer a communicated number

hours for each athlete in the program during the home tournaments. The home tournaments are the club’s main fundraiser and the reason our player fees are some of

the lowest in Southwest Wisconsin – and players get a lot of value from their participation in Spark softball.
